INDUSTRIES
Labelling and marking tailored to your industry
Every industry has different requirements concerning materials, marking durability, identification and automation. We select labels, Auto ID equipment and application systems to suit the product, packaging and process conditions.
WHY MGN
One partner for label production and marking automation
One point of responsibility for the entire process, from label production and equipment selection to integration, commissioning and servicing. We combine our own production facilities with technical expertise and experience in implementing marking systems.
01
Comprehensive solutions
Labels, TTR ribbons, Auto ID equipment, software and automation, all in one place. We select every component to create a consistent marking system.
02
In-house label production
We produce labels at the MGN facility in Wałcz. Our own machinery, in-house CTP prepress and DTP team allow us to control the process from design to the finished label.
03
In-house DTP and CTP prepress department
We prepare graphic materials and printing plates in-house. We manufacture the photopolymer plates ourselves, allowing us to shorten production preparation times, implement corrections more quickly and reduce the cost of external services.
04
In-house design department
We design applicators, labelling stations and systems tailored to specific products and production lines. We create solutions that meet the actual requirements of the process.
05
Implementation and technical support
We install and commission equipment, train users and provide post-implementation technical support. One team is responsible for the correct operation of the entire solution.

SOLUTIONS
Labelling automation from design to implementation
We design and implement automated labelling and permanent product marking systems. We select the technology to suit the product type, packaging, application location and required performance, and then integrate the solution with the production line.

01
Labelling robots
We design robotic workstations for automatic label application. We tailor the robot’s operation to the product, labelling location and production process parameters.
02
Print & Apply systems
Print & Apply systems automatically print and apply variable-data labels to products, cartons and pallets. They streamline marking processes and reduce manual work.
03
Label applicators
We select applicators for the automatic labelling of bottles, jars, cartons, trays and other packaging. We design solutions for top, side, bottom and wrap-around application, tailored to the product and line performance.
04
DPM systems and metal marking
We offer systems for permanent marking of metal parts and components. Micro-percussion, scribing and laser technologies enable serial numbers, production markings and identification codes to be applied directly to the product surface.
05
Production line integration
We design complete marking workstations and integrate applicators, printers, conveyors, feeders and inspection systems with the existing production line. We ensure that all equipment works together consistently throughout the entire process.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions about labels and marking automation
What is the difference between a label applicator and a Print & Apply system?
An applicator applies pre-printed labels to a product. It is suitable when the label content remains unchanged.
A Print & Apply system prints a label immediately before applying it. It can print variable data such as a batch number, production date, expiry date, serial number, barcode or 2D code. The choice of solution depends on the type of data, product and process organisation.
Can a labelling system be integrated with an existing production line?
Yes. In most cases, an applicator or Print & Apply system can be adapted to an existing line. Before preparing the design, we analyse factors including line speed, spacing between products, application location, available control signals and safety requirements.
The scope of integration may include conveyors, sensors, feeders and inspection systems, as well as data exchange with software used by the client, provided its interface supports this.
How should you prepare product marking for the transition from 1D codes to GS1 2D codes?
First, you need to determine what data should be included in the code, whether the existing printers provide sufficient print quality, and whether the scanners and software can handle 2D codes.
GS1 aims for point-of-sale systems to support 2D codes alongside traditional one-dimensional codes by the end of 2027. This does not mean that all 1D codes must be withdrawn automatically at one time. MGN can help select printers, scanners, verifiers and software suited to the planned process. Official GS1 guidelines concerning 2D codes.
How can you verify label accuracy and code readability after application?
Inspection can be carried out using scanners, code verifiers or vision systems. The system can check whether the label is present, whether it is correctly positioned, whether the code is readable and whether the data matches the current production order.
If every label passes through an inspection point, we can say that 100% of labels are subject to verification. However, this should not be confused with a promise that there will be no errors. A non-compliant product should be stopped or automatically rejected.
How should you select the label, adhesive and TTR ribbon for the production conditions?
The packaging material and shape, application temperature, operating temperature, moisture, contact with grease or chemicals, abrasion and the required marking legibility period should all be considered.
Wax ribbons are most commonly used for paper labels, wax-resin ribbons for more demanding applications, and resin ribbons for synthetic labels and markings that require high durability. The final selection should be confirmed by testing on the actual product.
When does labelling automation become cost-effective?
The return on investment depends on the number of products being labelled, line speed, manual labour costs, the number of changeovers, losses resulting from errors and the planned increase in production.
During the analysis, we compare the cost of the current process with the cost of the system and its operation. We also consider reduced manual handling, the number of corrections, downtime, consumables and the possibility of increasing performance. There is no single universal payback period for every implementation.
What does the implementation of a labelling system in a production facility involve?
We begin by examining the product, label and current marking method. We then analyse the line conditions, prepare a technical concept and select the equipment.
Once the design has been approved, we proceed with system construction and configuration, testing, installation, commissioning and user training. The work scope and schedule depend on the complexity of the solution and the required integration.
